Pottery Class Introduction
Be inspired and get creative with clay... Giant seed pods, twisted
t-pots, big boxes and bowls, whatever you want to make I'll guide you. Have fun and learn pottery in a welcoming and supportive environment. Everyone is creative and anyone can learn pottery!
I'm an established ceramicist selling both locally and nationally. The pottery classes I run are held at Furzebrook Studios in my working pottery studio which is located just outside of Wareham (Dorset). The studio is very spacious, light, warm, has sturdy tables to work on, 2 pottery kilns, a potters wheel and all the equipment you need to do pottery.
In my pottery classes I aim to build confidence, encourage experimentation and create a space that is welcoming and inspiring. Anyone can attend the pottery classes, they are suitable for all abilities.
Beginners can follow a structured course, taking you through the various hand-building techniques and glazing with worksheets given at each stage. If you've done pottery before, or if you prefer, you're free to work on your own ideas and develop your skills further.
In addition, I run extra workshops in class time that are fun, inspirational and a bit quirky and I like to find opportunities in the local area for community projects that the pottery class can participate in. I also do raku firing which is a lot of fun.
All the materials that you need are provided by me and are inclusive in the price of the pottery class. You'll have the opportunity to use different types of clay (including stoneware, porcelain, paper clay and craft crank) and there are more than 40 glazes and even more undergalze clolours to choose from. You can also use oxides and slip if preferred.
